Legislative Advocacy
We engage community members, partner organizations and legislators to inform and craft environmentally just and sustainable laws and policies that will protect our waters now and into the future.
Throughout the years, legislation has been introduced in Washington to weaken instream water resource protection provided by previous Legislation and the courts. To combat these efforts, CELP maintains its presence in Olympia, advocating for the public interest in water resource management in the state, educating our elected officials on current water issues, and ensuring that they are working for all Washingtonians to protect and restore Washington’s waters
We also help give a voice to those who want to ensure our rivers maintain strong, healthy flows free from impairment for fish and wildlife, navigation, and recreation. We partner with other water organizations each year to bring together river and water advocates to meet with their Legislators for Washington’s Waters Lobby Day.
